The voice should be organically connected to the body, so that the sound matches the movement. People often wonder how vocal production for actors and public speakers is different than that for singers. Of course they are related and it can be beneficial for an actor to study singing. But sustained notes, which are required for singing, are normally not necessary for realistic-sounding speech. The goal with vocal production for actors is to develop a natural and clear presentation so that there is no doubt about what is being said. Vocal production subtleties will vary depending on if the actor is preparing for a stage role vs a film role.
